5 Indoor Sports for Families to Try This Winter

Just roll with it

Ice skating may be the default wintertime family fave, but if you’re ready to try skating without being cold, try trading your ice skates for their four-wheeled cousins and hitting up an indoor roller skating rink. Black lights, disco grooves and funky dance moves are bound to bring back middle-school memories, giving you and your tots, tweens or teens license to get down and boogie while getting a workout.

Southgate Roller Rink

This old-school rink in White Center hosts family skate times on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with fam-friendly tunes, games and learn-to-skate classes.

Find it: 9646 17th Ave. S.W., Seattle

Lynnwood Bowl & Skate

Roller skating is only one of the myriad family fun options at this Lynnwood locale, which also has a bowling alley, arcade, pool table and cafe.

Find it: 6210 200 St. S.W., Lynnwood

Auburn Skate

With special skate times for kids (ages 8 and under), teens, lessons and day or evening family skate sessions, this hip Auburn joint has something for everyone. Bonus: A family pizza night special on Saturday nights makes for a great refuel after skating your heart out.

Find it: 1825 Howard Road, Auburn
