A free kids fishing event at Wapato Lake!
The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is partnering with the Get Hooked Foundation and Metro Parks Tacoma to host a family-friendly event to teach youth the basics of fishing and the importance of conservation.
The event will give kids the opportunity to:
- Learn to tie basic fishing knots
- Practice casting
- Fish for rainbow trout from the park's new fishing docks
- Learn how to protect fish and wildlife in Washington
- Meet fish and wildlife police officers
- Learn about water safety
- Talk with local Tacoma groups and businesses
Who can participate: Kids age 15 or younger. No fishing license required. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
