Virtual: Tools for Success - Communication Strategies for Healthy Parenting

Calendar/Event Details

We all know that communication is essential to healthy relationships, and parenting is certainly no exception. Rachael and Dave Urban will explore with us how our own emotional and spiritual maturity is critical to effectively communicating with our children. Learn how purposeful listening makes all the difference in helping our kids learn and grow.

Join us online at this lunchtime event to discover how the real win in parental communication is empowering our kids to thrive in the future rather than keeping the peace in the present.

Intended audience: parents with students in preschool through grade 12.

Rachael Urban began teaching at The Bear Creek School in 2000 and has several years of teaching experience at a variety of levels (preschool – grade 6). She loves Jesus, learning, and children. Rachael is passionate about helping students become the individuals that God intends. She holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from Pacific Lutheran University and an M.A. in Education and Science from Nova Southeastern University.

Dave Urban joined Bear Creek’s Upper School faculty in 2020, but he has been part of the Bear Creek community since 2000 as both a faculty spouse and parent of students. In addition to tackling philosophical theology with our grade 11 students, he works with the Upper School Student Life team to help students grow in their faith and in community with one another. Mr. Urban is passionate about Jesus, his family, and helping people of all ages embrace the gospel and understand the connection between faith, culture, and worldview. He holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Pacific Lutheran University and an M.A. in Theology from Bakke Graduate University of Ministry.

Tools for Success is a seminar series at which Bear Creek faculty and staff speak on a variety of parenting and academic topics. These sessions focus on subjects ranging from preschool to college planning. You are invited to attend any or all events.

This online event is free and open to the public.
