Join us for a collaborative art project where we'll work together to recreate a library painting by a famous Black artist ... you'll have to come to find out which one!
Join us for a collaborative art workshop, read-in and book giveaway. We'll work together to recreate a library painting by a famous Black artist: each participant will follow instructions to paint a square, which will be put together to reveal the final picture. The image is a surprise! Browse great books from the library collection by Black authors and artists, enter a raffle to win new books to take home, and enjoy refreshments while you wait for the paint to dry and the canvases to be assembled.
This art workshop is part of the library's 8th annual Black Voices in the Arts program series. Black Voices in the Arts is hosted in recognition of the national African American Read-In initiative, started by the National Council of Teachers of English. This event series focuses on celebrating Black stories through guest artists, writers and poets, with activities and book sharing for all ages. Learn more about the African American Read In online.
