2019 Golden Teddy Awards — Shopping + Services

Super Kids' Salon

Winner: Kid’s Club

Centrally located in University Village, Kid’s Club has been a Puget Sound-area go-to for haircuts since 1988. Not only does the salon do great kids’ cuts, but it also offers one-on-one hair tutorials for parents, hair-styling class events for private groups, coloring and special styling services (feathers and French braids, oh là là!) and more. One voter says, “Every kid comes out happy and full of glitter!”

“Fun for kids, stress-free for parents” is the motto at Cookie Cutters Haircuts for Kids. Cookie Cutters offers a play area complete with a slide (a great distraction for kids while a parent pays) and fantasy-car chairs outfitted with an entertaining selection of kids’ shows and games.

You can bring the whole family to Enchanted Cuts, because this salon serves all ages. Readers love the variety of toys that keep siblings occupied while brother or sister gets their cut, as well as proprietor Michelle’s patience with little ones. One voter notes, “Consistent service, reasonable price and very patient with kiddos.”

If you have a little one who needs distraction during a haircut, Sharkey’s Cuts for Kids is the place to go. Children can sit in a Dodge police cruiser, a Barbie Jeep, a Lightning McQueen race car, a Buzz Lightyear vehicle, a Hummer, a “Frozen” Jeep, a fire engine, a No. 8 Dale Earnhardt NASCAR race car or a MINI Cooper while watching their favorite cartoons or Netflix! Where was this place when we were kids?

Kids in Tacoma love going to the Wild Child Salon (Facebook, “Wild Child Salon”) for haircuts. Car and plane chairs, screens at every station and endless patience with kids are what voters like about this salon. Several reviewers say that the stylists are particularly good at working with kids who have special needs.
